 The same questions are always asked when autumn settles in: when does time change occur? Do clocks go forwards or backwards by an hour? And when will time change be abolished? Indeed, winter time is almost there and days will be shorter. But the good news is that we will sleep one hour longer starting this weekend!

 Like us, it seems Planet Earth was keen to see the back of 2020 – the year that marked the start of the Covid crisis. The Earth did actually spin slightly faster during 2020, continuing an acceleration phase which began in 2016. Days were shorter on average by 0.3 milliseconds compared to 2019. This natural phenomenon does have an impact on the calibration of atomic clocks, which is why an automatic synchronisation system for your clocks is so important. We explain why.

On the night of Saturday 27 to Sunday 28 March in France, the clocks will go forward : at 2 a.m. it will be 3 a.m. But the time changeover does not only concern France but also other European countries, and even beyond our continent. European citizens seem to be unanimous on the abandonment of the time changeover. What is the situation today ? Will Europe always be on summer time or winter time ? Will there be countries on summer time and others on winter time ? What would this mean for the air transport market ? Explanations.
